Support NWPA Business to hold its Fifth Monthly Cash Mob on Friday, September 21st , 2012
Support NWPA Business is a group of business owners who meet monthly around Erie County to discuss how locally owned businesses can survive and thrive. They are holding their Fifth monthly “Cash Mob” of 2012 and this time they are inviting the community to Waterford. The group plans to help Duran’s Farm Fresh Products, 10532 Route 97 and Waterford Hardware and Services Inc. at 10 West Second Street. The Mob is slated to kick off at 8A.M. and continue throughout the day with a group being assembled to patronize at 5:30.
Support NWPA Business is all about promotion of local business. “We don’t charge businesses any money to join our group. We just ask that business owners share ideas on how to stay relevant and to patronize a locally owned business the next time they are going to use a product or service. We like to say: “No Money, Just a Message: Buy Local!” says Richard Smith, owner of Crystal Point Productions.
Support NWPA Business was founded by four local business people: Dr. Rebecca Miller Wise a local professor and health columnist, Robert Lafaro, of the Mantsch-Lafaro Insurance Agency, Debbie Swift of Scott Enterprises, and Richard Smith, of Crystal Point Productions. Originally, it was a way to network with other local owners, but soon turned into an advocacy and education group. Business owners that are well-established are encouraged to share what they’ve learned with those just starting out. To date they have had over 60 different local businesses attend monthly meetings.
The group started to take an active role in promoting and supporting local businesses by holding their first “Cash Mob” in May at Ferrier’s Hardware. The event proved successful and in June they mobbed Frankie and May Fresh Grocer and at Haute Tottie Consignment Boutique. In July supporters stopped into Werner Books and Peggy’s Liberty Plaza Restaurant. In August the group held its first Mob outside of the City by going to Crossroads Dinor and A Floral Affair in Edinboro. Support NWPA Business is looking forward to going to Waterford.
“Waterford is a great community with a lot to offer. They have nice restaurants, roadside farm stands, and antique stores, lots of local shops where you know the owners, beauty and an historic atmosphere! It’s not only a great place to shop, but you could lose yourself for the day in the Waterford community.” said Smith. “We think it’s great that our online supporters keep coming out to support local owners.”
Support NWPA Business was founded in June 2011 and it has nearly 1,400 supporters on Facebook.
