Small Business Thursday—Attic Rehab, Recovered Treasures
Erie’s Downtown Furniture and Gift Boutique
Attic Rehab is a local store located in the PACA (performing arts collective alliance) building in downtown Erie. The location alone shows just what kind of business this is. This building is filled with artists, and attic rehab is an art form in its own right; this type of work requires a lot of creativity, hard work and time—you have to be able to have en eye for what is considered a diamond in the rough. The creativity just flows out of this building. The owner is also a Co.Starters Graduate, which focuses on the development of small businesses through entrepreneurship.
The owner Sally Jankowski can bring back nostalgia through their refurbishment of old objects. As the name suggests, the owner can find diamonds in the rough and turn them into something magnificent. Just looking through the photos on their Facebook page just shows the immense amount of work that can go into just one piece. There is usually a new refurbished item on a daily basis. This store is filled with pieces that would fit anyone’s overall aesthetic in their home—from rustic chic pieces and contemporary wine racks to coffee tables and refurbished fireplace mantels. It would be hard to walk into the store and exit empty handed.
Attic Rehab is not just a store for antique grabs—Attic Rehab is a multi-faceted space that is constantly giving back to the community and holding quite a few events on a monthly basis. Just a look at their Facebook pages shows that they hold craft nights, art shows, in-store yoga, a “Pumpkin Fest” on October 17th and a watercolor painting experience on October 11th. Coming later this month on October 24th, they will be hosting a Harry Potter mixed media craft night. So head on down to State St in Erie, PA and see why this beautiful store was nominated for an Erie Choice Award for Antique Store of the Year!
